Exercise 2 – 7-Segment LED Display
EXERCISE OBJECTIVE
When you have completed this exercise, you will be able to use BCD codes to produce decimal
equivalent displays. You will verify your results on a 7-segment display.
DISCUSSION
- A 7-segment display combines a group of LEDs into a network.
- Each driver output of the 74LS247 decoder/driver is connected to one segment of the 7-
segment display through a current-limiting resistor. - The 74LS247 BCD decoder/driver simultaneously turns on and off segments required to
produce specific characters.
