DC Network Theorems Unit 6 – Superposition and Millman's Theorems

Exercise 2 – Millman's Theorem

EXERCISE OBJECTIVE

When you have completed this exercise, you will be able to solve a circuit by applying Millman's
theorem. You will verify your results by comparing calculated and measured data.

DISCUSSION

  • Millman’s theorem is used to determine voltages across branches by summing branch
    currents and conductances.

  • Identify the individual branches in the circuit.

  • Calculate the current through each branch.

  • Calculate the conductance of each branch.

  • Determine the voltage drop across R3 by dividing the sum of the branch currents by the sum
    of the branch conductances.
