EXERCISE OBJECTIVE
When you have completed this exercise, you will be able to describe and measure voltage in a
simple circuit by using a multimeter. You will verify your results with information found in this
exercise.
EXERCISE DISCUSSION
- A force must be applied to an electron to cause the electron to move. This force is
electromotive force (emf). - The negative terminal of a battery has an excess of electrons with respect to the positive
terminal. - One volt of electromotive force moves a charge of one coulomb through one ohm of
resistance in one second.
