RESEARCH OBJECTIVES
Solidification along a Eutectic path in
Ternary Alloys - 2 (SETA-2) studies the
process of solidification in various alloy
materials in microgravity; focusing on the
microscale structural patterns formed in
these materials when they transition from
liquids to solids. Specifically this
investigation studies the effect of different
processing velocities on the
microstructure evolution; while examining
the influence of elimination of the gravity
component on force balance, which
maintains the pushing/engulfment
configurations; and determining the
influence and behaviour of foreign
particles added to the alloy.

RESULTS
No results are currently available as the research is on-going.

This investigation is ongoing and additional results are pending publication.
