Prayer for the guest room: “We praise you for the gift of shelter.
Give your rest and peace to those who share our home.”
In the Child’s Room:
“I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little chil-
dren, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven” (Matt. 18:3).
Prayer for the child’s room: “Lord, bless the child who dwells
here. May we be a good example to her [him] of your grace as we
spend our days together.”
In the Dining Room:
“I have food to eat that you know nothing about....My food is
to do the will of him who sent me to finish his work” (John 4:32,
34).
Prayer for the dining room: “Lord Jesus, focus our meals on your
presence. May we dwell more on your mercy than the menu. Extend
the blessings of the table to all who gather here.”
Home Owner or Renter:
“Thank you, Father, for this home. We dedicate it to you. You
have told us to choose whom we will serve and today we choose to
serve you [Josh. 24:15]. Amen.”^1
After the house blessing that night, we enjoyed refreshments, con-
versation, and laughter. Was it only my imagination that there was a
whole new Spirit in the place? No. The Lord and his Holy Spirit were
there in force! Whenever and wherever we invite him in, he accepts
our invitation, spreading the light and love of his presence to all who
are there.
