101 Most Powerful Prayers in the Bible

(avery) #1
Don’t be afraid! Don’t be paralyzed by this mighty army! For the
battle is not yours, but God’s....Take your places; stand quietly
and see the incredible rescue operation God will perform for
you.... Go out there tomorrow, for the Lord is with you.”
(2 Chron. 20:15, 17 TLB)

What good news this is for us! In fact this message has so em-
powered me that I want to print it on colorful leaflets and have them
dropped by the thousands into the hearts of believers everywhere.
What is the universal good news in 2 Chronicles 20? We don’t
have to struggle in order to figure out the answers to all our prob-
lems. In fact exactly the opposite is true. Our part is to stop trying
to do it our way and let God be God. Let’s look at how that works.
Our part in a crisis is:

  • to surrender our will and our way to God in prayer.

  • to keep our eyes focused on him.

  • to stand still and listen to him.

  • to choose not to be afraid or discouraged.

  • to show up and see what God will do.

Notice that none of these steps is aggressive. None of them makes
us the hero of the story. Instead, each of them calls for us to watch,
to wait, to listen for God’s will and to trust his ability to perform on
our behalf.
But it’s also important to note that we don’t stay in bed with the
pillow over our heads. We get up, we show up, we stand up, we look
up, we listen up, and we follow up! In every way we can, we partic-
ipate as his children.
