SQL Server 2012 supports new features that enrich the client and programmatic data expe-
rience. Developers access these new features through the SQL Server Native Client (SNAC)
and can now enhance the user experience by improving metadata discovery, improv-
ing access to diagnostic information through extended events logs, and offering better
user interface response with asynchronous calls and ODBC connection improvements.
In addition, stability increases signifi cantly with the use of mirrored servers, AlwaysOn
