The Resource Governor Properties dialog box enables you to set the new resource
pool’s values.

  1. Enter a name for the new resource pool.

  2. Set the minimum and maximum CPU and memory values for the new resource pool.

  3. Enter a workload group name for the resource pool.

  4. Click the OK button.

  5. Your resource pool is now created, but until you create a classifier function,
    Resource Governor cannot use it.
Additionally, you can enable and disable the Resource Governor feature through script. You
can use the following SQL Statements to disable or enable the Resource Governor:

ALTER RESOURCE GOVERNOR DISABLE; --Disables Resource Governor

ALTER RESOURCE GOVERNOR RECONFIGURE; --Enables Resource Governor

The next sections cover Workload Groups and the classifier function.
