- Identify a trade or professional organization that serves the type of business that you are
dealing with in your business plan. Call or write this association and request materials. What
does this organization do for its members? How can members get the most out of belong-
ing to this group? - Attend a meeting of a professional organization or group. What types of activities go on?
What kinds of behavior can you observe? Interview attendees. What reasons do they give
for attending these meetings? What benefits have they experienced? - Join a student club or group (if you do not already belong to one). Go to meetings and par-
ticipate in a few activities. Make new friends. What kinds of things did you do to become
friends with these people? What is the extent of the relationship? If you were going into
business, how could these new friends help?
