benefit from trigger point therapy. All people experience pain at some times,
and many people experience some pain all the time. Trigger points arising
from accidents, sports, occupational hazards, diseases and operations—and
activated by stress, thus throwing the muscles into spasm—account for a lot
of the pain that people experience, if not most of it. Once you have proven
on yourself what trigger point therapy can do, share it with others.
. Human nature seems to procrastinate doing even beneficial things. Do not
procrastinate. Act now! Get into some studying of trigger point therapy. You
do not need to get into it in a big way to get started on your own therapy. I
got started after spending only a couple of hours with the Prudden book,
and then mixed practice of the technique with more study of it.
. I urge you to learn about trigger point therapy, and then put it into serious,
determined and consistent practice. It could be some of the most momen-
tous education you have ever had, or ever will have. It was for me.
How to avoid injuries
. Adhere to the following and you will be able to train for a long lifetime,
without suffering anything other than perhaps occasional minor injuries.
a. Use immaculate exercise technique—never cheat or use loose form.
b. Adhere strictly to a smooth and controlled rep cadence.
c. Even if your body can tolerate singles and very low-rep work, avoid
using such high-force training for long periods. And use maximum-
effort singles only very prudently. If you body is not suited to singles
and very low reps, stick to medium and high reps. Use a rep count for a
given exercise that suits your body.
d. Only use exercises that are appropriate for you, and where appropriate
modify them to make them safe for you. No exercise can be good for you
if it hurts you.
Injuries often need a multi-faceted treatment for full recovery.
While trigger point therapy and chiropractic may be the most
influential therapies in many cases, do not discount the potential
benefit of some other therapies. Seek professional help.
