 Outdoor challenge programs (Yukl, 2010) – EI benefit: provides “challenging
physical activities that require mutual trust and cooperation among group
members” (p. 479).
The study explicitly links EI with leadership, experiential, and situated learning.
In that regard, Figure 2.12 below reflects Nelson and Low (2011)’s emotional learning
system framework. As illustrated, it binds EI with leadership and the experiential mind.
In alignment with Dewey (1916), “you have relationships with Self, with others, and with
the environment” (Nelson & Low, 2011, p. 166).
