The intermediate bin of raw meal feeding to kiln are meant for weighing and
uni form feeding of raw meal to Preheater I stage cyclone. The location of this bin
can be directly under the storage silo and outside the storage silo. Both locations
having their own advantages and disadvantages.
8.1 Kiln Feed Bin Under Storage Silo
This bin is located under the inverted cone of storage silo. The Raw meal from
storage silo is discharged directly in to this bin by pneumatic gates and air slides.
The bin is mounted on load cells and the kiln feed is controlled by loss in weight
system. Fig.1 shows this type of arrangement.
8.2 Kiln Feed Bin Outside Storage Silo
This bin is located outside the inverted cone of storage silo. The Raw meal from
storage silo is discharged to a small buffer bin under the silo and then feeding the
raw meal to kiln feed bin outside through an airside and bucket elevator. Here also
the bin is mounted on load cells and the kiln feed is controlled by loss in weight
system. Fig.2 shows this type of arrangement.
