to Liberation and to the Great Renunciation,
therearethe pathswhich arefollowedbymen
whohavenotyet takenonthemselvestheduty
of discipleship, but who are men good and
earnest in theirlives, and doing goodwork in
the world-those are the paths of action, the
paths where Karma is generated, and good
action and good desiregenerate good Karma.
But Karma everbringsa manbacktore-birth.
Myriadsof years mayintervene-nay,insome
casesmillionsof years mayintervene-but still
theendofworkisre-birth,stilltheendofdesire
isto"passfromdeathtodeath." Workswhich
are good and useful to humanity gam their
reward. Putting it in Christian phrase, we
should say they gain Heaven; putting it in
Hindu phrase,theygain Svarga; puttingit in
Theosophicparlance,theygain Devachan; and
beyondthetemporaryDevachan,orSvarga,or
Heaven,thereis a possibilityof workdone so
wellwithaviewalwaystoits results,that you
may have that Heaven of the kosmic Devas
which you read of in the Hindu writings,
where one who has passed beyond ordinary
humanity,and haswon byeffort these higher
seats in Heaven, may reign throughout the
course of a Manvantara, and may direct the
kosmicprocessesof theworlds. Butwhatever
