own strength, calm in its own wisdom, has

dwellingwithin the nine-gatecityof itsabode,


neither acting norcausing toact. But a state


of isolation, thougha stategreatin its power,


in its wisdom,greatin itsabsolute detachment


from all that is transitory, and readyto enter


into Brahman. And into Brahman such a


Soulentersandgainsitsliberation,toremainin


that union forages afterages-a timethat no


humanyearsmayreckon,thatnohumanthought


canspan-havingreachedwhatthe Hinducalls


Moksha,inperfectunitywiththeOneandwith


theAll, comingoutfromthatuniononlywhen


thegreatManvantararedawns,andoutofthat


stateofliberationlifeagainpassesintoallmani-
festedforms.


Turn from the Pathof Knowledge to the


PathofDevotion.• Hererightknowledgemay


notbeignored. Right knowledge-forthatis


needed, otherwise the world cannot well be


served;rightknowledge,becausetheunionmust


bethegoal,althoughauniondifferingsomewhat


fromthat whichisgained by knowledge;right


knowledge,becauseifrightknowledgebeabsent


then even love may go astrayin its desire of
