DRAWING WITH STRING
This drawing is based in memory and
imagination, two elements that are very useful
resources for artists to draw upon.
If we start at the top of the drawing, you will
notice that I have used the string in a twirling
motion to give the effects of leaves.
Sometimes I have built up the tonal areas by
making them darker and sometimes I have
made areas lighter to give the effect of form
and space. The trunk of the tree has been
created by dragging the piece of string up the
line of the trunk to create the effect of bark.
The grass in the foreground has been
produced by dragging the string in short
waves in different directions. The space in the
background has been achieved by making just
a few varied marks to imply distance.
