Bill: Yes, along with that I also work out in my exercise class
and do weightlifting. I feel more grounded when I do this practice. I
can feel the energy in my body and it is a very positive form of
meditation. I meditated before but never to such a great extent with
any other teacher. I learned it on my own, from what I read, from
yoga. Master Chia’s system compliments the meditation I have
already been doing.
Dr. Young: You say you did some meditation from a book? What
book was that?
Bill: I read about TM in a paperback book that is on the market,
but I sat on my own even before then.
Dr. Young: Did you feel “energy” even before studying with Mr.
Chia?
Bill: It is not a matter of energy. It’s more like sitting in a kind of
consciousness. I never developed Kundalini or the power, 1 never
felt it. It was just a certain kind of awareness that I had, like, when I
concentrated on my arm I just felt the skin on my arm. I just tried to
feel the blood circulating, it was just a matter of ‘’ awareness more
than anything else.
Dr. Young: How long have you lifted weights?
Bill: I’ve been doing it about 6 months.
Dr. Young: You started it just after you began meditating with
Mr. Chia?
Bill: Yes.
Dr. Young: Would you say weightlifting and meditation benefit
each other?
Bill: Yes, definitely. It contains a lot of techniques that I find in
weightlifting. It is a way of connecting myself to the power that en-
ables me to make rapid gains in my lifting.
Dr. Young: You say you practiced this method with Master Chia
and felt energy. Do you really feel energy?
Bill: Definitely.
Dr. Young: Not like before, right? Because before you said it
was just like an awareness but this time it is not?
