Explanation

This formula is used if Heat Painful Obstruction Syndrome turns into Fire which damages body
fluids and causes red-swollen and very painful joints which are worse at night together with
irritability, thirst, a Red tongue without coating and a Rapid pulse.

• Sheng Di, Xi Jiao, Xuan Shen, and Mai Dong nourish Yin and cool Blood. Since the
  rhino is a protected species and its horn cannot be used, Xi Jiao is always replaced by
  Shui Niu Jiao, the water-buffalo horn, in a higher dose.
