Zhi Shi Zhi Zi Tang
Citrus Aurantium-Gardenia Decoction)

Zhi Shi Fructus Citri aurantii immaturus 6 g

Zhi Zi Fructus Gardeniae jasminoidis 9 g

Dan Dou Chi Semen Sojae praeparatum 9 g

Explanation

This is the main prescription to clear remaining Heat after an invasion of Wind-Heat.

• Zhi Shi is used to move Qi in the chest.


• Zhi Zi clears interior Heat.


• Dan Dou Chi clears Heat and calms irritability.

This is obviously a skeleton prescription which should be suitably adapted to the case in
question. In the case of Lung-Heat, it could actually be combined with:

Xie Bai San
(Draining Whiteness Powder)

Di Gu Pi Cortex Lycii chinensis radicis 9 g

Sang Bai Pi Cortex Mori albae radicis 9 g

Zhi Gan Cao Radix Glycyrrhizae uralensis praeparata 3 g

Geng Mi Semen Oryzae sativae 6 g

Explanation

This prescription specifically clears remaining Lung-Heat after an invasion of Wind-Heat.

• Di Gu Pi clears lingering Lung-Heat.


• Sang Bai Pi clears Lung-Heat and restores the descending of Lung-Qi.


• Gan Cao harmonizes.
