Kidney-Yin Deficiency
Clinical Manifestations
Soreness of the lower back, exhaustion, depression, lack of drive and will-power, weak legs and
knees, dizziness, tinnitus, deafness, dry mouth and throat which are worse at night, night
sweating, malar flush, disturbed sleep (waking up during the night), thin body.
Tongue: Red without coating.
Pulse: Floating-Empty or Rapid-Fine.
A prolonged fever can injure Kidney-Yin in people who have a pre-existing Kidney weakness.
Kidney-Yin deficiency causes the patient to feel completely exhausted. It is a type of exhaustion
which cannot be relieved by a short rest but only by regulating one's life and taking proper rest
over a long period of time. On a mental level, Kidney-Yin deficiency causes a person to feel
depressed, lacking in drive and initiative as the Kidneys are the seat of Will-Power (Zhi).
