Dang Gui Radix Angelicae sinensis 15 g
Dan Shen Radix Salviae miltiorrhizae 15 g
Ru Xiang Gummi Olibanum 15 g
Mo Yao Myrrha 15 g
Explanation
- Dang Gui nourishes and moves Blood.
- Dan Shen, Ru Xiang and Mo Yao move Blood. Ru Xiang, in particular, moves Blood in
the channels.
Variations
For the treatment of hemiplegia this formula should be adapted by the addition of herbs which
simultaneously nourish Blood and invigorate the channels, such as Sang Ji Sheng Ramulus
Loranthi, Ji Xue Teng Caulis Millettiae seu Caulis Spatholobi and Wu Jia Pi Cortex
Acanthopanacis radicis.
In addition, some herbs which expel Wind from the channels should also be added, such as Sang
Zhi Ramulus Mori albae or Wei Ling Xian Radix Clematidis chinensis.
Patterns in the Sequelae Stage
After a Wind-stroke attack, besides treating the above symptoms, it is important to attend to the
underlying imbalances which caused the stroke in the first place. These imbalances are obviously
still present and they predispose the patient to further attacks.
