Explanation
This formula, which has already been explained, tonifies Qi and resolves Dampness. It is
suitable if there are marked symptoms of Dampness.
Bu Zhong Yi Qi Tang
(Tonifying the Centre and Benefiting Qi Decoction)
Huang Qi Radix Astragali membranacei 12 g
Ren Shen Radix Ginseng 9 g
Bai Zhu Rhizoma Atractylodis macrocephalae 9 g
Dang Gui Radix Angelicae sinensis 6 g
Chen Pi Pericarpium Citri reticulatae 6 g
Sheng Ma Rhizoma Cimicifugae 3 g
Chai Hu Radix Bupleuri 3 g
Explanation
This formula, which has already been explained in Chapters 1 and 25 , is used if there are
symptoms of sinking Qi.
Variations
Any of the above three prescriptions should be modified with the addition of herbs to benefit the
channels and sinews.
- If the legs are mostly affected add Ji Xue Teng Caulis Millettiae seu Caulis Spatholobi
and Niu Xi Radix Achyranthis bidentatae seu Cyathulae. - If the arms are weak add Gui Zhi Ramulus Cinnamomi cassiae and Sang Zhi Ramulus
Mori albae. - If there is numbness of the limbs add Wei Ling Xian Radix Clematidis chinensis.
- If the lower back is weak add Du Zhong Cortex Eucommiae ulmoidis and Wu Jia Pi
Cortex Acanthopanacis radicis.
