Explanation
This formula is stronger than the previous one and it is used if Heat is more prevalent. It also has
a stronger effect in calming asthma.
- Ma Huang and Bai Guo are combined to restore the descending of Lung-Qi and stop
asthma. They are coordinated since the former scatters and the latter absorbs. - Huang Qin and Sang Bai Pi clear Lung-Heat and restore the descending of Lung-Qi.
- Xing Ren, Ban Xia, Kuan Dong Hua and Su Zi restore the descending of Lung-Qi,
subdue rebellious Qi and calm cough and asthma. - Gan Cao harmonizes.
Variations
- A small dose of Ma Huang may be added even if it is hot in order to calm asthma.
- If there is pronounced irritability increase the dosage of Huang Qin Radix Scutellariae
baicalensis and add Dan Dou Chi Semen Sojae praeparatum. - If symptoms of interior Heat are beginning add Shi Gao Gypsum fibrosum.
