Clinical Manifestations


Mild attacks of asthma at night, dry cough, dry throat, breathlessness on exertion, slight
night-sweating.


Tongue: Red, without coating in the front part.


Pulse: Floating-Empty on the right Front position.


Explanation


This formula treats Lung-Yin and Stomach-Yin deficiency with dryness and some Empty-Heat.



  • Bei Sha Shen and Mai Men Dong nourish Lung-Yin.

  • Tian Hua Fen promotes fluids and clears dryness.

  • Sang Ye promotes the descending of Lung-Qi and benefits the throat.

  • Bian Dou tonifies the Spleen and is used according to the principle of strengthening the
    Earth to tonify Metal.

  • Yu Zhu clears Empty-Heat and benefits fluids.

  • Gan Cao harmonizes.


This formula is also suitable to treat either late-onset asthma with Lung-Yin deficiency or asthma
attacks from injury of Lung-Yin in children after a febrile Warm disease.
