Explanation



  • Ban Xia, Chen Pi and Fu Ling resolve Phlegm.

  • Zhi Shi moves Qi to help to resolve Phlegm.

  • Ren Shen tonifies Qi and Original Qi.

  • Shu Di Huang nourishes Blood.

  • Suan Zao Ren and Yuan Zhi calm the Mind and open the Mind's orifices.

  • Wu Wei Zi calms the Mind, being sour it "absorbs" the Mind into the Heart, and, being
    astringent, it stops sweating.

  • Zhi Gan Cao Harmonizes and helps to tonify Qi.

  • Sheng Jiang and Hong Zao harmonize.


This formula is a variation of Wen Dan Tang Warming the Gall-Bladder Decoction. Of the latter
prescription, it preserves the element of resolving Phlegm, but, contrary to it, it does not clear
Heat. In addition, this formula tonifies Qi and Blood. The main manifestations are tiredness,
poor appetite, poor memory, timidity, insomnia, palpitations, mild anxiety, propensity to be
startled, a Pale tongue and a Weak or Choppy pulse.


This formula, contrary to the previous one, also addresses any sweating that may derive from
some Empty-Heat developing from Blood deficiency. This is quite possible and it happens more
