Clinical Manifestations


Tiredness which is worse at midday, palpitations, poor memory, insomnia or dream-disturbed
sleep, dull-pale complexion, dizziness, pale lips.


Tongue: Pale and Thin. It may have a midline crack.


Pulse: Choppy or Fine.


This pattern arises from emotional problems such as sadness usually on a background of general
deficiency of Qi and Blood. The tiredness is experienced more around midday which is the time
of Heart activity (11 am to 1 pm). It is associated with palpitations and a slight anxiety.


This pattern is nearly always rooted in a deficiency of the Spleen, since it is Spleen-Qi that
generates Blood.

HE-7 Shenmen, P-6 Neiguan, Ren-14 Juque, Ren-15 Jiuwei, Ren-4 Guanyuan, BL-17 Geshu
(with moxa), BL-20 Pishu, ST-36 Zusanli, SP-6 Sanyinjiao. All with reinforcing method. Moxa
can be used.
