Patent Remedy


Long Dan Xie Gan Wan
(Gentiana Draining the Liver Pill)


Explanation


This pill has the same ingredients and indications as the prescription above.


The tongue presentation appropriate to this remedy is a Red body with redder sides and a
dry-yellow coating.


Liver-Wind


Clinical Manifestations


Tremors, tic, numbness, tiredness, dizziness and paralysis.


Tongue: Red, Stiff, Deviated.


Pulse: Wiry, Firm.


There are three main types of Liver-Wind according to its aetiological factor, i.e. Heat (in the
course of a febrile disease), Liver-Yang rising, or Liver-Blood deficiency. The type of
Liver-Wind described here is mostly the one due to Liver-Yang rising and is frequently seen in
old people, when it is often associated with Phlegm, in which case the tongue will have a sticky
coating and the pulse will also be Slippery.


Tiredness is due to Liver-Wind obstructing the free circulation of Qi.

Subdue Liver-Wind.


Acupuncture


General Prescription


LIV-3 Taichong, Du-16 Fengfu, G.B.-20 Fengchi, Du Mai (S.I.-3 Houxi and BL-62 Shenmai).
All with reducing or even method.
