Liver-Qi.

P-6 Neiguan, with even method, to move Liver-Qi, move Blood, subdue
rebellious Stomach-Qi, harmonize the Upper and Middle Burners, calm
the Mind and settle the Ethereal Soul.

SP-10 Xuehai and BL-17 Geshu, with even method, to move Blood.

Herbal treatment The decoction used was a variation of Tiao Ying Lian Gan Yin
Regulating Nutritive Qi and Restraining the Liver Decoction:


Dang Gui Radix Angelicae sinensis 6 g
Chuan Xiong Radix Ligustici wallichii 4 g
Bai Shao Radix Paeoniae albae 9 g
Gou Qi Zi Fructus Lycii chinensis 6 g
Wu Wei Zi Fructus Schisandrae chinensis 3 g
Suan Zao Ren Semen Ziziphi spinosae 6 g
Fu Ling Sclerotium Poriae cocos 6 g
Chen Pi Pericarpium Citri reticulatae 4 g
Mu Xiang Radix Saussureae 3 g
Sheng Jiang Rhizoma Zingiberis officinalis recens 3 slices
Da Zao Fructus Ziziphi jujubae 3 dates
Dan Shen Radix Salviae miltiorrhizae 6 g
Yan Hu Suo Rhizoma Corydalis yanhusuo 6 g
He Huan Pi Cortex Albizziae julibrissin 6 g
Dang Shen Radix Codonopsis pilosulae 6 g

Explanation The first eleven herbs constitute the Tiao Ying Lian Gan Tang to
harmonize the Liver and move Liver-Blood. E Jiao was removed as
there was no deficiency of Blood.


Dan Shen was added to help to move Blood and calm the Mind.

Yan Hu Suo was added to move Blood in the Middle Burner and stop
pain.

He Huan Pi was added to move Liver-Qi, calm the Mind and settle the
Ethereal Soul. It is very good for emotional problems related to Liver
disharmonies.

Dang Shen was added to tonify the Spleen.

This patient, also with the help of counselling, is gradually improving
and is still being treated.
