This formula is similar to the previous one in action. It is simpler and suitable for a less severe
case of abdominal pain.
- Huang Qin drains Damp-Heat.
- Bai Shao absorbs leakages and moderates urgency.
- Gan Cao and Da Zao harmonize.
Bai Tou Weng Tang
(Pulsatilla Decoction)
Bai Tou Weng Radix Pulsatillae chinensis 15 g
Huang Bo Cortex Phellodendri 12 g
Huang Lian Rhizoma Coptidis 4 g
Qin Pi Cortex Fraxini 12 g
Explanation
This prescription clears Heat, drains Dampness, resolves Fire-Poison and stops abdominal pain.
It is suitable if there is diarrhoea with a lot of mucus and blood, the pulse is Rapid and Slippery
on both Rear positions, and the tongue is Red with red points on the root and with a
sticky-yellow coating.
- Bai Tou Weng and Qin Pi resolve Fire-Poison from the Intestines and stop abdominal
pain.
