Explanation


This pill simultaneously resolves food retention and tonifies the Spleen. It is therefore suitable
for chronic retention of food against a background of Spleen deficiency.


The tongue presentation appropriate to this remedy is a Pale body with a moderately thickdirty
coating.


Stagnation of Qi


Clinical Manifestations


Abdominal pain and distension which are clearly related to the emotional state, feeling bloated,
constipation, irritability, moodiness, belching, borborygmi.


Tongue: there may be no change in the body colour, but in more severe cases it may be Red on
the sides.


This is due to stagnation of Liver-Qi in the abdomen. If Liver-Qi invades the Spleen there will be
tiredness and alternation of constipation with diarrhoea.


Treatment Principle


Pacify the Liver and move Qi.
