Ren-6 Qihai to move Qi in the lower abdomen.

BL-20 Pishu and ST-36 Zusanli to tonify the Spleen.

BL-18 Ganshu to move Liver-Qi.

ST-39 Xiajuxu and SP-6 Sanyinjiao to move Qi and stop abdominal
pain.

Herbal treatment The prescription used was a variation of Chai Hu Su Gan Tang
Bupleurum Soothing the Liver Decoction:


Chai Hu Radix Bupleuri
Bai Shao Radix Paeoniae albae
Zhi Ke Fructus Citri aurantii
Gan Cao Radix Glycyrrhizae uralensis
Chen Pi Pericarpium Citri reticulatae
Xiang Fu Rhizoma Cyperi rotundi
Chuan Xiong Radix Ligustici wallichii
Zhi Zi Fructus Gardeniae jasminoidis
Mu Dan Pi Cortex Moutan radicis

Explanation The first seven herbs form the Chai Hu Su Gan Tang to move Liver-Qi,
eliminate stagnation and stop pain. This formula is excellent to stop pain
from stagnation.


Zhi Zi and Dan Pi were added to clear Liver-Heat.

This patient showed 50% improvement after 5 acupuncture treatments
and herbal decoctions and he is still being treated at the time of writing.

Clinical Manifestations


Severe abdominal pain, masses in the abdomen, dark complexion.


Tongue: Purple.


Pulse: Deep and Choppy or Deep and Firm.
