Explanation



  • BL-21 tonifies Stomach-Qi and is chosen also because, due to the descending movement
    of Stomach-Qi, it will stimulate the bowel movement.

  • BL-25, Back-Transporting point of the Large Intestine stimulates the bowel movement.

  • SP-15 stimulates the bowel movement.

  • ST-36 and SP-6 tonify Qi and promote the bowel movement.

  • Ren-6 tonifies Qi in the Lower Burner.

Huang Qi Tang
(Astragalus Decoction)


Huang Qi Radix Astragali membranacei 9 g
Chen Pi Pericarpium Citri reticulatae 4.5 g
Huo Ma Ren Semen Cannabis sativae 6 g
Feng Mi Mel 1 teaspoonful

Explanation



  • Huang Qi tonifies Spleen- and Lung-Qi.

  • Chen Pi is combined with Huang Qi to prevent the formation of Dampness when
    tonifying.

  • Huo Ma Ren moves downwards by moistening the Intestines.

  • Honey mildly tonifies Qi and moistens the Intestines to move downwards.


Variations



  • If there is very pronounced Qi deficiency add Dang Shen Radix Codonopsis pilosulae
    and Shan Yao Radix Dioscoreae oppositae.
