Huang Qi Radix Astragali membranacei 12 g
Ren Shen Radix Ginseng 9 g
Bai Zhu Rhizoma Atractylodis macrocephalae 9 g
Dang Gui Radix Angelicae sinensis 6 g
Chen Pi Pericarpium Citri reticulatae 6 g
Sheng Ma Rhizoma Cimicifugae 3 g
Chai Hu Radix Bupleuri 3 g
Explanation
- Huang Qi, Dang Shen, Bai Zhu and Zhi Gan Cao tonify and raise Qi.
- Chen Pi regulates Qi and prevents the stagnation that may derive from excessive
tonification. - Dang Gui tonifies Blood to help to tonify Qi.
- Sheng Ma and Chai Hu raise Qi.
Other Herbs
- Ren Shen Radix Ginseng is stronger than Dang Shen Radix Codonopsis pilosulae in
tonifying and raising Qi. The original prescription actually includes Ren Shen rather than
Dang Shen, but the latter is frequently substituted for the former because of cost.
Patent Remedy
Bu Zhong Yi Qi Wan
(Tonifying the Centre and Benefiting Qi Pill)
This pill has the same ingredients and functions as the homonymous prescription.
The tongue presentation appropriate to this remedy is a slightly Pale body.
