Just south of Orion’s Belt resides the near-
est star-forming region in the Milky Way. It
includes M42 (center), M43 to its upper left,
and the Running Man Nebula consisting of
NGC 1973, NGC 1975, and NGC 1977 (top).
DETAILS:Takahashi FSQ-130 astrograph with
QHY367C CMOS camera. Total exposure is 6.7
hours recorded over 5 nights.
