Modern Spanish Grammar: A Practical Guide

(lily) #1
Note that in this context the verbs sorprender, extrañar, and asombrar behave like
gustar, ‘to like’, so they must go in the third person singular, with an object pronoun
preceding the verb: Me sorprende/extraña/asombra que... ‘It surprises me that.. .’
(lit.), Nos sorprende/extraña/asombra que... ‘It surprises us that.. .’ (lit.).
