Also very formal is this construction with me gustaría or nos gustaría, followed by an
infinitive.
Me gustaría invitarlo/la a mi boda.
I would like to invite you to my wedding.

Nos gustaría ofrecerle nuestros servicios.
We would like to offer you our services.

70.1.11 Le ruego/rogamos que+ subjunctive


This construction with rogar, literally ‘to beg’, ‘to request’, corresponds to a formal,
written register. In business correspondence it is extremely common.
Le ruego que acepte nuestra invitación.
Please accept our invitation.
Le rogamos que acepte nuestra oferta.
Please accept our offer.

70.1.12 Tengo/tenemos el agrado de+ infinitive


Also restricted to very formal, written language is this expression with tener el agrado
de, ‘to have the pleasure of’, used with an infinitive.
Tengo el agrado de invitar a usted a la inauguración de nuestra
nueva sucursal.
I have pleasure in inviting you to the inauguration of our new
branch.
Tenemos el agrado de ofrecer a usted dos entradas liberadas para la
Exposición Universal.
We have pleasure in offering you two free tickets for the World Fair.

70.1.13 Tendría/tendríamos mucho gusto en que.. .+ imperfect subjunctive/tendría/
tendríamos mucho gusto en.. .+ infinitive
These constructions correspond to a very formal register, and they may be used in the
spoken language as well as in writing.
Tendría mucho gusto en que pasara unos días con nosotros.
We would be very pleased if you spent a few days with us.
Tendríamos mucho gusto en ayudarle.
We would be very glad to help you/him.
