change e to i and o to u in the unstressed stem forms of the present subjunctive (i.e.
the 1st and 2nd persons plural).
There are also some -ir verbs which change e to i instead of to ie in the present stem;
these verbs have i throughout the present subjunctive.
All these -ir verbs change e to i or o to u in the 3rd person singular and plural of the
preterite and in the gerund. Examples are:
SENTIR (ie/i) ‘to feel’; ‘to
regret’
