b. Select cell B2. Type Ctrl+1 to display the Format Cells dialog. In the
Number tab under the Category list, choose the option for Fraction. If
you will only be displaying fractions such as 1/2, 1/3, or 3/8, then it is
OK to use the option for Up to 1 Digit. If you might be displaying 1/16
or 1/32, then you might want to use the option for up to two digits.


  1. In cell B3, enter the following formula: =1-B2
    A pie chart must be comprised of 100% or 1. As you change the fraction in
    B2, the formula in B3 will ensure that the total value for the pie chart adds
    up to 100%.
