APPLYING YOUR KNOWLEDGE

CRITICAL THINKING QUESTIONS
1.More and more hospital services are being per-
formed on an outpatient basis. Although this
practice is cost efficient, in many cases, patients
are being sent home without the knowledge
they need to care for themselves. Think about
what can be done to bridge the gap between
hospital and home healthcare. How would you
use this knowledge to discharge a 59-year-old
woman who lives alone and is recovering from
back surgery?
