Web Design in a Nutshell, eMatter Edition

When usingfor Java applets, the object tag may contain a number of
parameter () tags, the same as for thetag. Unfortunately, as of
this writing, Netscape 4.0 does not supporttags within thetag,
so it may not play applets correctly if placed this way.

Object Placement Tags” section earlier in this chapter.
