Education and Training
Ayoungnewlymarriedwomanhasthe responsibilityofruling theaf-
fairsofherhusbandandassuchshewouldneedknowledgeofcooking,
cleaning, ironing, sewing, arranging the furniture, entertaining her
guests,socialisingwithothers,takingcareofherchild,etc.Herhusband
wouldexpecthertoknowallofthis.However,hisexpectationsmaynot
berealisedmostofthetimebecausehisyoungwife'sknowledgeabout
housekeeping is either non-existent or very little indeed.
Whatcanone do?Thisisaprobleminoursocieties. Neitherthepar-
ents are bothered, nor the educational system contains enough pro-
grammestomeetthisneed.Neverthelessoneshouldfind asolutionto
this problem.
Aman,sinceintendingtolivewithhiswifefortherestofhislife,must
help educate her, becauseusually men are olderthan their wives and
thusmore experienced. Aman,through patience, caneducate hiswife
andteachherthingsthatheknows.Hecanevenaskhismother,sisteror
auntsaboutthingsthathedoesnotknoworcanevenbuybooksonthe
related subjects like cooking, tailoring, housekeeping, etc.
A man must also encourage his wife to read the books which may
prove to be morally helpful. He must correct her moralshortcomings
with good manners and not by protesting, or else she would react
againsthim.Aman,throughpatience,caneducatehiswifeaccordingto
his own way of livingwithin the first twoyears of their marriage. lie
maynotbe successfulone hundredpercentbutundoubtedlywouldbe
near satisfaction.
Sucheducationneedspatience, time,andwisdom,butamanshould
