Tubular skylightsdeliver natural light to a
room where a traditional skylight or vertical
glazing is impractical. They consist of three
components: (1) a small, clear acrylic dome
located on the roof, which allows sunlight to
enter; (2) an adjustable cylindrical aluminum
shaft that has been treated with a highly
reflective coating; and (3) a translucent dif-
fuser lens located on the interior ceiling,
which disperses light throughout the room
(figure 5.10).
