fines of up to $250,000, and
supervised release for a period
of three years after he is released
from prison, said Rachelle
Barnes, a spokeswoman for the
U.S. Attorney’s office for the
Eastern District of Tennessee.
According to documents
filed in the case, Replogle

admitted to using the internet in
April to contact a dark web
entity who purported to arrange
murders for hire. He provided
the would-be killer with the
intended victim’s name and
address, a description of the
victim’s vehicle, and a specific
date, time and place where the

victim could be found and mur-
dered. In addition, Replogle
asked that the killing appear as
“road rage or [a] carjacking
gone wrong.”
In exchange for the antici-
pated murder, Replogle used
the internet to transmit a pay-
ment of 0.2924549 Bitcoin

which, on the day of payment,
had the approximate value of
$17,853.  Agents with the
Federal Bureau of
Investigation learned of the
plot through a tip from repre-
sentatives of the British
Broadcasting Corporation,
intervened and arrested the

defendant. Ann Replogle was
not harmed as a result of the
attempt.
Nelson Replogle retired in
June 2018 from the Thornapple
Kellogg district, where he’d
taught social studies. He had
served as a class sponsor and
was among those reading the

list of names of graduates at
TKHS’ commencement exer-
cises in 2018, according to the
district’s website.
Ann Replogle also retired
that same year from the
Hastings district, and the cou-
ple had moved to Knoxville
shortly after their retirement.

Norman Bruce Jahnke
(Bruce Lundy) passed away
October 25, 2021.
He was born in Caledonia,
on February 20, 1932, son of
Kenneth Loren Jahnke and
Frances Boulard. His parents
divorced while he was still a
toddler. His mother went away
to work and he and his sister,
Patty, were raised with their
aunts and uncles through their
early years at the home of their
grandparents, Ward and Mary
Boulard, in Bowne Center.
Eventually the children
were returned to their mother
and her new husband in
Portland, OR where he be-
came known as Bruce Lundy.
After some adventuresome
times in the western states,
the children once again retur-
ned to the Boulard household
to complete their teenage
years. Their father had remar-
ried and they had two addi-
tional siblings, Joann and
Larry, who lived in Bay City.
Norm (Bruce) graduated
from Caledonia High School

in 1951 and entered the Air
Force, returning to his legal
name of Norman Jahnke. He
served during the Korean
conflict, mostly as a mechanic
and later as an instructor in jet
engine repair and mainte-
nance, achieving the rank of
Staff Sergeant.
During his Air Force years,
he met and married Joann’s
friend, Patricia Lafern Hertel.
They married at Shepherd AF
base in Wichita Falls, TX and
children soon followed. After
leaving the service in 1961,
he tried to follow his dream of
farming. They lived in
Rockford, Freeport and
Caledonia before settling in
Middleville, where they

raised their children and set-
tled into factory work.
In the late 1960s and early
1970s, Norm was active as a
Boy Scout and Sea Scout
leader as well as 4H.
Eventually he opened a busi-
ness on M37 selling and ser-
vicing bicycles, small engine
equipment and sewing ma-
chines. He was a former
member of the Western
Michigan Rabbit Breeders
Assoc., the Organic Farmers
Association, and several an-
tique tractor and engine clubs.
Norm and Pat were instrumen-
tal in the activities of
Prairieville Old Fashioned
Farm days throughout its years
where he served as the curator
of vintage and antique tractors.
After their children were
raised and moved away from
home, they sold their home in
Middleville and moved to
Allendale to be closer to her
work. There, he had a small
organic farm business for sev-
eral years.
