A poor process or dysfunctional organization will diminish the
contribution of even the most motivated employees (and lead-
ers!). As Peter Scholtes says, βAll the empowered, motivated,
teamed-up, self-directed, incentivized, accountable, reengi-
neered, and reinvented people you can muster cannot compen-
sate for a dysfunctional system.β This section provides an
