Directions: In the following sentences, put brackets around the independent
clauses, underline the dependent clauses, and circle the word that marks the
construction as dependent.


Example: Although Buggsy was overweight, he was strong.
Although Buggsy was overweight,[he was strong.]
Fritz called Rita when he finished dinner.
[Fritz called Rita] when he finished dinner.
