44Consumer Behaviour And Marketing CommunicationIn marketing communication, there are always two human parties communicating with each other
through the use of various media or channels of communication and this serves three purposes:
• It is the means for establishing and maintaining trading contact necessary to complete
a transaction.
• It conveys persuasive message to both trading parties so that an exchange can be agreed upon.
• It provides feedback of results with respect to productivity, efficiency and effectiveness of
marketing activities.Each of these purposes is served by a particular type of communication, such as:
LOGISTICS COMMUNICATION: Conveys facts about availability of goods, prices and demands.
PERSUASIVE COMMUNICATON: Conveys motivating messages designed to bring transactions to a
conclusion. An example is personal selling.
FEEDBACK COMMUNICATION: Relates to control information on marketing performance so that
the organization receiving the message can adjust subsequent performance, this type of communication
occurs in form of advertising/promotional research. [4]
