Simplified Dust-Collector Switch
O
VER THE YEARS,I HAVEseen several designs in Fine Woodworking
for switching a dust-collection system on and off. All seemed
too complicated or impractical for my situation.
My alternative is a simple mechanical system using a cord, much
like what is used on a city bus to signal the driver for a desired stop. I
located the switch box at a convenient central location on the ceiling
of my shop. Then, by running several cords to different areas of the
shop, I am able to turn the dust collector on or off simply by reaching
up and pulling the cord from whatever machine I am using.
