Reducing an Electric Motor’s Speed
for Buffing
S
OME WOODWORKERS LIKE TOfinish small projects by buffing the
wood. But a 3,450-rpm motor turning a buffing wheel runs too
fast and will burn the wood. The simplest and best way to reduce an
electric motor’s speed for buffing is to separate the motor and the
buffing wheels, connecting them with a V-belt and pulleys of two
different sizes.
