IMPLEMENTATION
Nursing Interventions *denotes collaborative interventions Rationale
Verbalizing feelings is an initial step toward deal-
ing with them in an appropriate manner.
Positive feedback increases the likelihood of
continued performance.
Clients with conduct disorders frequently experi-
ence rejection. The client needs support to
increase self-esteem, while understanding that
behavioral changes are necessary.
The client may have been receiving the majority
of attention from others when he or she was en-
gaged in problematic behavior, a pattern that
needs to change.
Encourage the client to openly discuss his or her
thoughts and feelings.
Give positive feedback for appropriate discussions.
Tell the client that he or she is accepted as a per-
son, although a particular behavior may not be
acceptable.
Give the client positive attention when behavior
is not problematic.
