The matzo that is broken into the initial 3 pieces represents the Trinity: Father,
Son and Holy Ghost.
ìFor there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the
Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.î 1 John 5:7
The middle piece that is ìburiedî represents the second person of the Trinity,
the Word, and the One we now know as Jesus Christ.
ìIn the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God,
and the Word was God.î John 1:1
He was broken away from His Father and the Holy Ghost when He hung on the
cross and bore the sins of the whole world.
ìAnd about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying,
Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why
hast thou forsaken me?î Matthew 27:46
ìSurely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we
did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he
was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our
iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with
his stripes we are healed.î Isaiah 53:4-5 (emphasis mine)
The body of Jesus was wrapped in linen and laid in a new tomb.
ìAnd when Joseph had taken the body, he wrapped it in a clean
linen cloth, And laid it in his own new tomb, which he had hewn
out in the rock: and he rolled a great stone to the door of the
sepulchre, and departed.î Matthew 27:59-60
This was the symbolism that Jesus used the night he held Passover with his
disciples. Jesus broke the middle piece of the matzo that had been hidden away.
ìAnd as they did eat, Jesus took bread, and blessed, and brake
it, and gave to them, and said, Take, eat: this is my body.î
Mark 14:22
Then He shared with them the cup of Redemption.
