Next, draw around the round object to make acircle around the intersection. Add smallmarks on the resulting round segments tohalve or quarter them (depending on howmany rays you want), then use the ruler todraw a line through these dots to join themand create the rays.2Draw the rabbit, then use the eraser torub out as many of the lines as you can.Paint the rays in two alternating colours, adding a little white to each colour so theyare not too dark and to improve the coverage.``````TOP TIPUse an old brush, thesparseness of thebristles will make thedark areas alittle lighter3Use the old brush to paint a few shadowyareas in black on the face and ears, noseand eye. Add a little blue so the black is nottoo strong.4Add the shadowy areas on the rabbit’sbody, such as the belly, making sure thatthe black brush strokes are not too solid andfl at. To fi nish, place the painting on a fl atsurface (otherwise the thin paint will run),then add a few patches of very dilute orange, yellow and green. This is an extract from Thomas Böhler’s bookPop Art: Create Your Own Striking Wall Art,published by Search Press, £8.99.http://www.searchpress.com321 4Materials- SQUARE STRETCHER FRAME,30×30CM- ACRYLIC PAINT Titanium White, Cadmium Yellow, Cobalt Blue, Cyan, Orange, Pea Green and Black- PAINTBRUSH Size 12 fl at- OLD BRUSH WITH THIN BRISTLES- RULER OR BATTEN- ROUND OBJECT- PENCIL AND ERASER43 Sketchbook.indd 43 09/06/2016 09:15
